The play that the movie is really a transcription of, is from 1925. The Florida land boom was in full, insane tilt. A fifty foot frontage in Coral Gables could go for fifty thousand bucks. The Hurricane of Sept. 1926 finished off the Boom. Our (in Miami) depression started then, locally, in 1927. And it got worse, of course, in 1930. There were no land sales. Only foreclosures and ruination.
