Casablinker - agreed! It just doesn't get better than this! (Potter wasn't rascist or sexist, though, I think. He just told it like it is. And it is often very dark indeed! Thank God for the songs! Elbow.)

This is genius. No show on British TV can compare in the modern day. It is racist and nasty and it is abusive of everyone. The Singing Detective is genius and I LOVE pOTTER

Um...! When a Brit says "keep your pecker up" they mean "stay happy, stay optimistic" or words to that effect. I don't know the origin, but I expect they mean "pecker" as in a bird's beak. Not a penis.

I do beleive he says keep your "maker" up...pertains to an old English saying... but what the hell, anyway??
