The Devil Came On Horseback Trailer

Using the exclusive photographs and first hand testimony of former U.S. Marine Captain Brian Steidle, THE DEVIL CAME ON HORSEBACK takes the viewer on an emotionally charged journey into the heart of Darfur, Sudan, where an Arab run government is systematically executing a plan to rid the province of it's black African citizens. As an official military observer, Steidle had access to parts of the country that no journalist could penetrate. He was unprepared for what he would witness and experience, including being fired upon, taken hostage, and being unable to intervene to save the lives of young children. Ultimately frustrated by the inaction of the international community, Steidle resigned and returned to the US to expose the images and stories of lives systematically destroyed. THE DEVIL CAME ON HORSEBACK opens in NYC on July 25 at the IFC Center and nationwide in select cities starting in early August.

I saw the movie (basically, my school bought a copy of it and made it mandatory for certain classes to watch it, but it's a great movie), and I swear I'm going to do something about it. And what I mean by doing something is not just putting a coin in the donation box, but something that really makes a difference.

Good video, and very serious issues, although I would mention that the description for this video has one bit of false information. If I recall correctly, Brian was never taken hostage during any of it.

dont be ashamed of our government... we should be ashamed of ourselves for not influencing our government otherwise. They are not willing to take the heat for military intervention unless it is a direct threat to the United States.. what risk does Darfur pose us???  If we want to be humanitarians, we have to rise up as a nation and get it done (via grassroots)

I am ashamed and emberassed by a couple of these comments. Sad to know that I live in the same country with such ignorant human beings. So many Americans go through their day with blinders on completely oblivious to what is happening in the world. This is a matter of humanity and I am ashamed of our government for not doing more to help these poor people.

I don't think their taking volunteers on the ground in Sudan because its too dangerous. At one point all the NGOs pulled out of Darfur after coming under fire from the Janjaweed.

You could just join the Peace Corps. There are always people in need.
