MN Gov. Candidate Tom Emmer recently spoke out in favor of cutting the wages of waiters and waitresses. Emmer claimed that some of these servers were making over $100,000 a year. He has not been able to substantiate this claim and the actual data paints a far different picture. Tom Emmer is clearly in the pocket of business interests and out of touch with the workers of Minnesota.

  • 2/3?! Where do you get these #'s? Tom Emmer was praising the fact that a business owner said some of his employees make $100k/year. Emmer never said he believes that's what all servers make, nor did he suggest reducing min. wage. He's adamant on NOT reducing min. wage, a response you [in]conveniently left out of your video.

Attend the Town Hall on Wed, 7/14, at 3pm at Ol' Mexico in Roseville to get your facts straight and start focusing on real solutions, not negative campaigning.

  • @aschottmuller $19,220 is the annual median income for a server in MN according to the bureau of labor statistics. All stats are fully documented in the link in the description of this video.

Praising the $100k. No one could possibly watch that video and see that. He discussed in the full video that it was unfair that the owners made less than their employees and should receive the tip credit.

  • @aschottmuller Tip credits reduce wages. I have seen the study he uses on his website. It is a 2005 study using 1999 data that begins with the premise that workers and restaurants are willing to relocate nationally. I refute it through the link in the comments using last years data and comparing states with and without tip credits. The numbers don't lie, instituting a tip credit does reduce real income. If an owner pays servers less, the guests dont tip more real wages drop

  • @aschottmuller Oh man, just took a look at your channel. First thing I see is a gun, and a bunch of business subscriptions. To be fair I liked the too late video, but you are definitely typical of the only people on the face of the planet willing to defend this guy and ignore what he has said.

  • @Starry2000 or is a MN GOP operative. I'm not saying she is working for Emmer. I will say that there is someone with the same name and nearly identical picture who has worked on other MN GOP campaigns.

  • @aschottmuller Well we saw the townhall. He admitted that he believed in reducing or even abolishing minimum wages as it got in the way sometimes. Some investigation into this revealed to me that he had been playing with the idea of abolishing minimum wage before but it didn't go anywhere.

I'd love to hear what you have to say. But I think your statement that either you and/or he believed that an employee could make 100k said a lot in and of itself.
