In a segment aired on January 4th, 2012, CNN's Showbiz Tonight interviewed Courage Campaign's Michael Bridges about the Millionaires Tax of 2012. The segment included a discussion of our video showing how millionaires like Kim Kardashian pay just 1% more in income taxes than middle-class Californians, and how the Millionaires Tax of 2012 -- a proposed ballot initiative -- would require millionaires to pay their fair share to help re-fund education and vital public services. • That's because it's a state income tax rate which people pay in addition to the federal tax. 10% is a very high state income tax anyway. California would benefit from repealing prop 8 which frees wealthy land owners from fair property taxes.

  • Everybody should pay the same rate.

  • 'Discretionary income' is what's left over after taxes and basic necessities are paid (rent or mortgage payments, utilities, insurance, medical, transportation, property maintenance, child support, inflation, food, and sundries, etc).

How much *discretionary* income do most Americans have. Not a lot.

That's why people with endless amounts of discretionary income should pay a higher tax rate.

    It's just common sense.
