@ErasmusPrime239 Well legally the only state that has the right to break away is Texas as they where also the only state the voluntarily apply for statehood thus they could get themselfs better terms so they could leave the union if they wanted to.
But apart from that the it is considered ilegal for any other state to break away from the union not to sure why but it has something to do with the Civil war ( and Texas joined before the CW)

just out of curiosity. what would happen if the national government were to shut down?
would there be a possibility of secession? what would happen if the Federal Government
was to not fund the Armed Forces?

@ErasmusPrime239 Hmm....I remember the government actually did shut down a couple of years ago. People made a big deal about it, but I don't think it had a lot of effects on the armed forces or the economy or anything like that. It is a scary thought, though!!
