Hard to believe that at one point the role of Lawrence was offered to Marlon Brando, but he refused it stating that he "didn't want to spend 2 years in the desert." happy he did becase I cannot imagine anyone in the role other then Peter O'Toole in it. He's just brillant.

Isn't it ridiculous that he's been nominated for Best Actor eight times and still* hasn't won it? I can't speak for the films I haven't seen, but he should have won for his portrayal of T. E. Lawrence for sure in my opinion.

Don't you mean he led an Arab rebellion against the OTTOMANS, SupportingActor? Saying "the turks" makes it a) sound like they're destroying their own country or b) are fighting IN DEFENSE OF the Arab monarchy. All the people in that nation were Turkish. Doy.

he lost for Ben Kingsley in gandhi,Marlon Brando in The Gogfather,Robert De Niro in Raging Bull

and of course fantastic Gregory Peck
