a high glottal is not hard on the voice and it puts weight in the sound and squillo at the same time

@colonia3059 it does arrive...very late

@Bigman240 YES, SHE COULD HAVE HELD THE END LONGER...A PITY...BUT WONDERFUL INTERPRETATION..!!!!!!!!!!!
-
She was wonderful in the Met production (about 1988) available on DVD. As Birgit Nilsson in a previous generation, she entertained opera fanatics for decades and with great distinction. Thank you EV!

There is just NO way to know what a singer sounds like unless you hear them live. Marton's voice was every bit as large as Nilsson, and as beautiful. Yes, Nilsson's voice was beautiful, not just large. The recordings do Nilsson a dis-service.

Chilling, absolutely chilling.
She opens the most prestigious operatic event of the 20th century with a 20th century aria...and SINGS THE UTTER HELL OUT OF IT. Brava La Marton, brava, A true diva.

Wow ... this may be the best I've ever heard Marton sing. Not screechy at all. Can't agree that she's THE Turandot, though. That would be Birgit Nilsson. ;)
