http://www.seo.com/blog/rank-local-search-video-faq-series/ Ty Kilgore (@ty_kilgore) answers the question "How do I rank in maps?" in the latest installment in our Commonly Asked Search Marketing Questions series.
Five steps to ranking in local search:
1.Have a business address and phone number that is local.
2.Build out citations on sites including Yelp, City Search, Super Pages, etc. The information on each listing should be correct and should be the same across the board.
3.Claim a Google Places page for your business. Owner verified listings will generally rank higher than non-verified listings.
4.Linkbuild specifically to your local listing on Google.
5.Generate reviews. Your customers will want to know what other people thought about your service, so encourage your satisfied customers to go online and post a review about their experience.
