Exerpted from "The Golden Horseshoe Jamboree" show, staged at Disneyland - 1986-87 - Don Payne as "Sam the Bartender."
The "Golden Horseshoe Jamboree" replaced Disneyland's record-setting "Golden Horseshoe Revue." Don Payne appeared in both shows. In the "Revue" he was "The Traveling Salesman/Pecos Bill," acting as the comic-lead sub for the great Wally Boag and Jim Adams.
In the "Jamboree" show, Don was, again, the comic-lead, appearing as "Sam the Bartender," who spent most of the show "auditioning" to become a part of "Lily's" show. Each of Sam's "acts" got a little sillier.
This segment (The Sound FX Wagon) is an audience participation routine. Much of the action is spontaneous and ad-lib. No two performances were the same. Everything depended on the personality and willingness to play along that each randomly selected audience member brought to the stage. Almost anything could happen... and almost everything did!
The Columbia Sailing Ship sets sail by the Mark 5, a full hand, which beats a full house... something the Golden Horseshoe hasn't seen since the original show left.
