US streets full of formerly middle class

The world is now seeing the economic uncertainty of the U.S. but for many Americans, it has been apparent for quite some time. Economic despair has been spreading across our nation and it can be seen by the rising number of middle class Americans losing their homes. In some cases, joblessness and inability to pay rent has forced people to live in their cars, shelters, or on the sidewalk.

Everybody likes to point at the recession whenever we talk about how bad things are now. We need to be pointing at record profits for the biggest companies and banks, some of whom were bailed out by Bush/Obama but still going back to their same old bag of tricks like it never happened, because in the end those tricks paid out. Too big to fail or jail. 2008 is used as an excuse to cut support for ordinary people, we struggle while business is booming for the 1%. It's called disaster capitalism.

I was in the same situation when i moved to NC. Thankfully i am back to work, but i feel for those who are still in the grips of homelessness. It just isn't fair that the peeons have to pay for the fat cats making bad decisions with our money. This is a sick world, sometimes.

Feeding the homeless is outlawed? Wow, this takes the punishment for being poor to another level, while the men in suits dine on fine wine and chew tobacco. The 'American Dream' is a nightmare which has lulled people into a false sense of security that "it's a level playing field and you too can make it", if you play by our rules. Take the first guy... 3br/3ba, 2 dogs, 3 cars on an electrician salary. How much did this guy save for a rainy day? Then he gets laid off and decides to just come to San Diego of all places to look for a job? You can't justify that that wasn't a very poor decision.
