2005年5月26日「路氹金光大道」的首期項目──澳門威尼斯人酒店上蓋工程正式舉行動土儀式，標誌著整個工程項目正式開展。工程期間使用的人力物力、工程的浩大都是澳門史無前例的。經過了2年多日以繼夜地不停的趕工，首期工程項目──「澳門威尼斯人渡假村酒店（The Venetian Macau Resort Hotel）」於2007年8月28日正式落成投入使用。其他項目工程亦同時展開，整個路氹金光大道發展項目預計於2010年全面落成。
