  • I guess you can only do that with a plastic cup, because glass would not work; keyword being "electronegativity". The seeds have to be able to gather electrons from the cup or lose them to it, right?

  • yea, leporidus is right... it's plastic, rather than glass.. but i myself haven't tested on what kind of plastic work and what kind doesn't.. i am just lucky

    how did you do that?

  • Interesting that you are holding the jar to begin with while shaking it, yet when the jar is set down, your finger (presumably same charge polarity of your hand) passes the charge through the dielectric (cup wall) and causes the seeds to repel. Seems an interesting visual example for forces at work in a capacitor (Leyden Jar).
