The Sea Gull "A Woman of the Sea" - Third Revised Edition of the 2008 edition, re-released in February 2010. About the lost film production of Charles Chaplin, starring Edna Purviance, directed and written by Josef von Sternberg. Glimpse of the newly printed third edition. Book by Linda Wada, released by Leading Ladies publishing. Special note: Edna Purviance presentation at The International Charlie Chaplin Conference Oct. 2010 in Ohio.

  • That's 'the story' that Oona was said to have destroyed it. What an extremely true shame if that story is true.

  • Oh my gosh-- I didn't know Chaplin had a lost film

  • @akmediascope - He produced this film, and had full control. He decided not released it, even after saying to the press he would release it. All reports: he burned the negatives to help settle a tax debt. Rumors still around about the print that was made. One saying, the print destroyed after his death. It is just sad this film was lost under Chaplin's control.
