Sixty years ago Israel established itself in the wake of the British Mandate of Palestine. For the Palestinians, expelled from their homes in the process, the Israeli War of Independence is still known as The Catastrophe (al-Nakba). Jeremy Bowen, the BBC's Middle East editor presents a look back at the creation of the state of Israel, examining the the events leading up to the Israeli war of Independence in 1949, its impact on Arab/Israeli relations and the implications for the Middle East.
The one thing this video and people in general don't point about the Palestinian refugees is that most of them didn't even move that far after being displaced. Many of them were farmers with no irrigation system and were moving year to year. It's not like they couldn't grow their olives or sustain their way of life 5 miles over.

This "documentary" ignores the fact that many Arabs came to live and work in the mandate because of the opportunity created by Jewish development and money.

too bad the BBC skipped the fact that in 1948 FIVE Arab armies attacked the jews, promising the arabs living there that they would kill every last jew. too bad they LOST! Plenty of arabs stayed and guess what?! Now their families are Israeli citizens. Israel never kicked anyone out! They Arabs left, so their brethren could 'push the jews into the sea'.

@jatamode=Christ is in heaven, and the day will come when He returns and Joel 3:2 will be fulfilled.

@knightsofstjoan2004 Then where is Jesus Christ because if you read Joel 3 it says when Christ brings back the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem, he was going to bring all nations down to the valley of Jehosaphat and plead their for his inheritance, if those are the Jews, then where is Christ?

@Pliam96
it wasn't British territory, but they were given a mandate over it by the league of nations.
the league of nations recognized the right of the jews to self determination in the territory.

The bible actually mathematically prophesied that Israel would be re-formed as a nation in their homeland in the year 1948 A.D Along with a bunch of other notable foretelling such as Israeli withdrawal from the gaza strip. Makes for some very interesting research.
