This is a custom where heavy costume clad 'bhootas' will perform to please the Demon gods so that the villages have good rain and crops and the people prosper. This was captured at Ninjoor, a hamlet in Udupi District of Karnataka, India. Kola usually starts off late in the evenings and runs all through the night. The concerned villagers attend the event with devotion. As the event proceeds, the bhoota wil reach the helm of the character and assumes divine speech powers. It is during this moment that the troubled villagers and mukhiya(village leader) will question the bhoota and get solutions for problems of the village and individuals.
