Here's to you, Teddy. You are the immortal epitome of what a horse should be, and you were the little pony that could. And you did.

I was devastated to find out that Teddy had to be euthanized. Here's what happened:

May 28, 2008 Statement from Karen and David O'Connor:

In response to the many inquiries about today's accident Karen and David wish to make the following statement:

"'Teddy' got frightened and bolted. He slipped running back to the barn and suffered a severe laceration to his hind leg, severing the tendons and ligaments. Dr. A Kent Allen was on the scene immediately and it was determined after examination that the injuries were catastrophic. Everyone who knew Teddy is devastated."

The USEA and the entire eventing world extends deepest sympathies to Karen and David and Teddy's owners. Teddy was, and always will be, an inspiration to us all. He was the People's Pony. He was truly unique and his bravery, his brilliance, his indomitable strength and his zest for life and the sport will never be forgotten. (USEA staff.)

"What joy he brought to all of us and what an ambassador for our sport." (Kyra King Stuart, past president USEA.)

RIP--may you gallop on in heaven and eat the finest grass! ;(

  • what happen to him??

  • Read the description.

It's so sad that this special pony had to be taken from the world so soon. I would have been so proud to have my country represented in the Olympics by a big little pony. :'(

  • It's obvious this horse loved what his job. Amazing. How can a pint-sized 14.1 do what he did? Heart, intelligence, power and not knowing anything about size. I only heard about him today and this brings tears to my eyes. He is grazing in green pastures with Barbaro, Eight Belles, Ruffian, other well-known heros and those not so noticeable.

I know how much he is missed...I've lost several myself over the years. Ihave been to that place in mediditon and have no doubt it exists. Rest in peace.

  • He is proof that the size or the pony dosent matter the size of the heart does.
