On this L517, we are treated to a pair of C40-8Ms as they roll into town with a lengthy train. The two units make easy work of the grade coming up to Cardigan West and we also get some horn action from the crew. This was the first time I can recall seeing two matched Zebra Stripped C40-8Ms coming into town on L527. While they were worn and faded, the two CN units still made for a nice sight.

  • Man the frames on those two units are really sagging. I've noticed this on almost all the C40-8Ms. It makes me wonder if GE didn't build a robust enough frame or if it's something else going on (bad steel, age, etc.)

  • @CRQ5508 Yeah, I've noticed that as well. Makes me wonder how much longer they'll be in service.
