Cunard's Aquitania was worn out by 1950. Aquitania sailed from 1914 to 1950 and was a liner from another era. She was originally slated to be scrapped in 1940 when the new Queen Elizabeth came into service but additional service during World War 2 gave her another 10-years of service.

The Queen Mary may have been owned by the Americans since 1967, but she will ALWAYS be a classic example of elegant and fine genuinely British shipping.

There was also something that something flew though the decks of the Aquitania which made a huge damage.

The RMS Aquitania/Mauretania 2 should had a chance to be saved, but the Aquitania was scrapped in 1950 (1914-1951) because the funnels were in poor shape. And the Mauretania 2 was finnaly scrapped on 1966.

*zucht* dat waren nog eens tijden zeg ! Na Titanic is Queen Mary toch wel het meest beroemde en legendarische schip ter wereld ! Ook van binnen is ze een zeer prachtige verschijning door het veelvuldige gebruik van Art Deco. Ik vind het erg jammer dat het 1e Art Deco schip de Ilé de France niet bewaard is gebleven. Maar gelukkig hebben we Queen Mary nog ! Ik hoop echt dat ook Queen Elizabeth 2 op deze manier bewaard kan worden voor het nageslacht !
