A teaser for The Australian Academy of Dramatic Arts upcoming production, bookings available on www.aim.edu.au/courses/aada or call (02) 9219 5444

"In 1997, Crimp attempted to represent the modern world as he saw it through a groundbreaking new work in which there are no characters, no plot and no linear structure. In 2010, students at the Australian Academy of Dramatic Art will attempt to represent their world through the same text -- a world defined by play, provocation and performance.
I believe Attempts On Her Life is a play about what we can and cannot define in the contemporary world. It reflects a journey rather than a destination, and focuses on opinion rather than subject. For us, Crimp's work is not about Anne -- it is about our relationship to and perception of her". -- Danielle Maas

AADA
The Australian Academy of Dramatic Art (AADA) is the home of young and emerging theatre artists who are passionate about performing, creating and producing their own work. Building on a 25-year reputation as an independent theatre school, AADA is now a department of the Australian Institute of Music (AIM). AIM is a Higher Education Provider with over 40 years experience in music education.

The Bachelor of Performance is AADA's new undergraduate degree, providing unique professional training in contemporary theatre performance. It nurtures the talent, technique and temperament of the performer, the creator, and the producer. A vital alternative to mainstream acting courses, each student in the program is given maximum opportunity to acquire knowledge, skills and attitudes in the full suite of theatre arts. These range from acting to design, from dramaturgy to marketing.

We seek to nurture students' individual creativity and artistic excellence; to instill professionalism and determination; to facilitate creative exploration and innovation; and to engage with current artistic debate. We encourage students to challenge the imagination in ways that are unique to live performance; to create works in contemporary and traditional theatre spaces; and to engage with the full breadth and diversity of human experience and expression.

The Bachelor of Performance is a bold new voice in Australian theatre training.

"Attempts on her Life is theatre about theatre, a play about plays, art about art. Our play is an attempt to create a life, a world that represents our world". - Jessica Wallace

"This is a direct quote from the play... and it sums it up for me; And the frightening thing is, is she could be any one of us". -- Alice Harvey

"No matter which way you look at it, Attempts On Her Life is just one of those plays which clearly has a hidden message for ALL of society to reflect upon. It's not so much what is literally been said in the play by Crimp which is interesting in his work, but instead, what isn't being said, and those who are willing & wise enough... will hear it". -- Soseh Yekanians
