Kirby 64 The Crystal Shards - Pop Star : Stage 2

Going for a blind run causes some problems sometimes... In this case, not knowing the game's mechanics can be fatal... Kirby 64 changed up a few things from the usual Kirby formula that would easily catch one by surprise if they had only played the 2D Kirby games up to this point. One of the big changes is, Kirby can no longer fly infinitely... if you fly too long he will begin to struggle before out-right falling. Also changed is that while he is flying, his hit-box grows larger as well, causing problem such as Kirby's head getting stuck under a platform... Thus, add these two together with stage 2 having a crystal shard deep into a bottomless pit, and you will get what caused a DEATH in this video. XD Needless to say, more of those will pop up eventually in this play-through, but I severely doubt any more of them will be due to Kirby's sudden limited flight time.

The stage itself is as easy as ever, though. There is really nothing too special to note about it other than it has different music than the previous stage, and looks fairly nice. It also contains another little fight at the end of it, which drags on for far too long due to the previously mentioned death caused by altered mechanics. Sure, I could have done a second take like I do with my other recordings, but then it would not be blind! XD With the completion of stage 2, though, Adeline joins the group... has she ever even turned up in another game after this one...?

I hoped I would soon find someone who makes a playthrough of this game and whom I actually like. ;P

Though you should not use deinterlaceing but progressive scan when recording from a game console. Did you notice the vertical stripes that occur when the screen moves? I guess you could get better image quality through progressive scan mode.

@Copycap Actually, I already do use DivX's progressive recording mode and not its DeInterlacing. It is merely I am using a third-party program to run my TV Tuner since the default software was horrible. There are minor glitches, but the results are dramatically better at least.

@RockmanWIFI Basicaly, it means I am playing the game without ever having played it before. The recordings are my very first time playing the stages, so I have no prior knowledge towards any of them and have nothing memorized.

Kirby's floating ability was nerfed in this game so that it wouldn't be as easy to just skip over levels or parts of a level you don't like. I find it adds a bit of challenge to the game. But if you want to fly forever. you the stone and cutter combo to get the tiny bird. it can fly forever AND you're indestructible.

Nowadays, we have Golurk (Pokemon B/W). Back then, we had Cutter+Bomb. It's still awesome to this day.

HAL has denied her of the luxury of FLYING past stages.. Though I did enjoy the fact that even someone like her can rage at the simple notion of losing a great Power.. Shurikens are really overpowered this time around.
