Yep the ever so brilliant Geniuses of IGN(Sarcasm) think that Metroid Prime is exactly like Citizen Kane, not just the gaming equivalent(In how praised it is) but in terms of everything, story, narrative, characters...yep...and here is the written article version of the video I commentated on...

http://wii.ign.com/articles/103/1033302p1.html

And here is a great rebuttal from Destructoid...

  • I stopped listening 2 minutes in. You sir, have failed to grasp what the article said. Metroid Prime is a gaming masterpiece which can and should be compared to the best of other mediums. The original article is well written, and Thomsen presents his opinion with astute argumentation. If you disagree, you could tell us instead which game in your opinion, and why, can be the equivalent of Citizen Kane.

  • @Pistolman There is no gaming equlvalent first and foremost of citizen Kane, You and Michael Thompson are both fanboys of a game trying to make it more then what it is. Its a horribly written article, Thompson is an embarassment like Ign to gaming media. I did not fail to grasp anything, I succeeded in seeing fanboyism seep into our gaming media which is a shame. I highly doubt you have seen citizen kane and only played MP, so I doubt you know what your talking about.

  • Metroid isn't that deep emotion-wise. It's the feeling of isolation and in Fusion, the feelings that you're being screwed by your superiors and the fear of the SA-X as well (for me at least.) what's that robot thing in the video when you're talking?

  • Its actually a armored character from the games Xenogears

I think readily killed her family I have not watched other M all the way though but I think something like that happened when she was a kid the Chozo race took her in before they got wiped out. I believe.

  • I would say that Shenmue is the citizen kane of gaming but obviously the plot between the two is very different, but in terms of emotional depth and deep story.

  • Physically, these two things cannot be compared. But, the dude was trying to say "This is an amazing Platinum-Class game". Often how Citizen Kane was looked upon by everybody, with the exception that it was a movie. In terms of story/plot however, I can't detect any similarities. So I agree to only a certain extent.

  • Your terminology and vocabulary when talking about Metroid Prime suggests your knowledge of Prime is extremely limited. But it is an abnormal comparison to make indeed.....METROID FTW :D

  • Samus lost her parents and home to Ridley and space pirates on K2-L so when she discovered Ridley alive, she had only vengeance in her mind for what Ridley had done to her. Also, the game actually did emphasize being all alone on a completely alien world; it greatly helped convey the atmosphere Retro Studios wanted to be expressed (continued)

  • @90sHeroMAXD uh-huh

  • @SlientChaos

    ummm okay.....

but all I mentioned was the power ups in no way did I mention about the deeper plot about Samus(but If i posted two posts I only saw one)

  • @90sHeroMAXD wrong
