I completely disagree. I missed Daniel Johnston by 1000 miles..and then I watched "The Devil and Daniel Johnston" and it ignited a love for his music.

I get it, theres a powerful profoundness to his lyrics, his songwriting, the haunting recordings..Just because I wasn't there in 1985 doesn't mean I can't love it now.

Does art have to professionally impressive? True art isn't intended to impress people; it is the personal, creative expression of the artist. Daniel Johnston's music is honest, however displeasing to your hears, and people are attracted to that. His music to me is a testament of human desperation and vulnerability. Can't you appreciate honesty and self-exploration?

I was there for this show and many others.  Daniel was a bright star on the scene in the mid 80s and an amazing guy. It doesn't matter that he's not precise and can't really sing. He's got the heart and the talent to touch people.

Sorry I don't even know what "trolling" is. I do know that name calling is never a good way to gain any sort of ground in an argument. Daniel Johnston can just barely sing and play the guitar and that's it!!! Is he an artist? well... I guess I guess that CAN be subjective. The documentary has helped place Daniel in a different light and has probably "hijacked" many peoples sense of what is good vs what is bad in the world of quality creativity. I'm not the only one who feels this way. Good day.
