Boro' came to this match looking for their third consecutive victory in the league, but ran into a Wingate & Finchley team desperate to recapture their early-season form. The visitors had a 2-0 lead at half-time, before Boro's captain, Wayne Walters, scored with a fine header to give the Reds some hope with abouth fifteen minutes to go. A red card for Wilson Gondwe made the task a bit more difficult, and Boro' succumbed to a third W&F strike seconds from the final whistle.
