I'VE UPLOADED A NEW ONE , WITH THE "BETTER" COOLING.

It works fine, the in phase out phase thing they tell you, has to do with the way ac power is pulsing, it doens't matter if you get wrong, then you wil just only get 3 to 6 volts, just flip the 220 volt (or some areas 110 ). Usually they have ceramic wires in welding trafonsformers, but i just used standard VD cable. At the end it melted one of the transformers, and it shorted out, the reason was i've been constant welding for 20 minutes, and the cooling was just to small to handle all the heat, so i'll have to make a new one. it's not that hard you know!!!!
At first i thought: "two microwave oven transformers :S where the hell can i find those, so i phoned the first household aplliences store i could think of, ask them if the had old microwave ovens transformers. the said yes, but you will have to remove them yourself. so said so done. build a box form 6mm trespa and 1.8mm thick plywood added a fan, and a switch. done!!! when your electrode gets stucked, the spool on the trafo virbrates extremely hard, pretty funny. I'm a pretty good welder, but with this selfbuilded creation it's very hard to keep the arc, why i do not know. if you keep safety measure in hand, then you are completely safe!! although i carey no responsibility for any kind of dismemberment or what kind of accident's (neither does Star Simpson, the autor from the website i found the idea on) http://www.instructables.com/id/Build-a-Microwave-Transformer-Homemade-Welder/
p.s. the person welding last, isn't me, it's my older brother have a go at it, for the first time in his live.

p.s. The scratching sound you hear, is just the power transformer of the videocamera, the first second of video is how long the battery lived after not beeing used for 2 monts. stupid things are always empty when you need them :(

  • I have a 150amp inverter welder and a smaller 100amp buzz box but i still would be tempted to build one of these but with one transformer.I would be happy for it to weld 1.6 rods and to fix it in the smallest of box with a likewise small fan just for the novelty of it,would this work?COULD i add more turns of 10 gauge to get more power and maybe if possible find some wire with a better higher melting point of covering.I live in the UK and people do through away too readily their crap.cheers any1

  • @MrPaulzzzz The amount of turn determines your output power, star explained this on her website (if this still excists...) I dont the box anymore, welded miles a weld with it in its live time, now I have 160 amp inverter, and MIG welder.

  • @thepaashaas I was wondering if one transformer could do the job for small 1.6 rods only, from other info i have been looking up it seems there may not be enough power.I am just starting to understand some of the principles involved in this kind of project and will not atempt to build one until i am 100% on what i am doing.I have a reasonable amount of exp with house electrics but not so much exp with certain electrical components.Iverter welder is great piece of kit but would like a mig too.thx

  • @MrPaulzzzz No, just not enough power to weld...anything

  • what kind of rods do you use

  • @808sexified

just normal 2.5 mm 6013 rods

  • @thepaashaas Yeah that seems to be the thing, needing two.I have started asking around for any person scrappiing one,i have done so myself in the past when the paint comes off inside and they rust my wife buys another one,the one at the moment is only 750 watts, would two this size be good enough you think?PS..thankyou for your help.

  • LMAO, the transformer overheated which melted the coating on the windings and shorted out. The sound is similar to an arc strike because essentially it is doing the same thing, instead of you completing the circuit with the rod and work peace, it completed the circuit inside of the transformer. I am sure that transformer is dead now.

  • the last few seconds of this video are audio greatness

    sparks - shock ah ah

well? what the hell? is that nordic language and then a dot matrix printer sound
