Agree, 100%. Not against enjoying sports and competition, and I don't think that if you enjoy watching a game once in awhile, that's equal to idolatry right off the bat, but if one makes significant sacrifices of time, money, and energy into a sport, especially in lieu of worshipping the real God, that's idol worship.

it's possible to enjoy sports or any other pastime that is not explicitly forbidden by Scripture (e.g. witchcraft/going to a nudie bar) without sinning. Millions do. But some people do make idols out of things like sports (or even their pastor or denomination) -- and whenever they do it is the task of Christians to lovingly but firmly point it out. This video does that - and it is very apropos for millions of people in this country who, for them, Sundays are all about their god - their team.

Yep, idolotry. all the classic symptoms, fanatics, blind following, violence ( both in the game and outside: riots & domestic violence)

For goodness sake, enthusiasm for sports doesn't always equal idolatry. There are so many things wrong with your argument I don't know where to begin. Everything is just black and white with you people
I'm sure you understand that most people in the world are still pagans, whether they realize it or not. Jesus was sent deliver us from the darkness and save us from our own sins. We all fall short of the glory of GOD (even you) and that's why we need Christ. This also includes sports fanatics.

@spaceable21 OR those that are called pagans by our history books were really engaging in something other than what they themselves to be "worship", although it was clearly "idol worship" by definition, just like the super bowl...

WE ARE ALL PAGANS
Good stuff
