  • This is your underlying argument in all you say: PREMISSES my parents were "brutal thugs" and "vicious lying hypocrites";"I was lied to from day 1" CONCLUSION all people in authority are "brutal thugs" etc. and in particular the state which has the most potential for abuse of power.

Does the conclusion follow necessarily from the premisses? I don't of course expect you to react rationally to this observation.

  • Why would I not react rationally? I certainly don't believe that all parents are 'brutal thugs' - but I am perfectly happy to be proven wrong about your parents. Sit down with them and talk about the violent nature of the state, and see what happens! Let me know if you can...

    Best wishes,

    Stef

  • Some cool books:

Chimpanzee Politics: Power and Sex among Apes by Frans de Waal

Demonic Males - Apes and the origins of human violence by Richard Wrangham

  • It would be more productive to describe it as logicals flaws.

In evolution it has often been much more effective to stick to pretending/posing than to logical consistency.

There is actually a quite gentle way to make people aware of their subconscious intrigues.

Go to the zoo and watch chimpanzees interact with each other.

Chimpanzees play these social manipulation games all the time. Their subconscious goals: Power and Sex (reproduction and survival)

  • Boring boring boring, yada yada yada blah blah blah

    ZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • Hmm must be technical probs. For anyone interested you can see the response on my page (titled Family Vs Environmentalism & Capitalism Vs Egalitarianism parts 1 and2). The questions are aimed at Stef as he brought the issue up but I would be happy to hear from anyone who wants ton contribute to the debate.

    Cheers all,

    Matt.

  • Well, I think that depends on one's parents. Some parents are even market anarchists! As for myself, if I became a parents it wouldn't bother me one bit discussing state violence with my child(ren). I would explain why state violence is necessary in an imperfect world, but must be kept under democratic control!

  • Hey Stef, I posted a video response to this but it's not up. What's happenin' bro?

    Best wishes,

    Matt.

  • If i was old enough to donate through PayPal i would. Lol another 1.25 years and i can!

  • Haha, thanks brother, I take smaller donations! ;)
