(((10 Gallon Rimless Mangrove Sanctuary)))

Moved my 2.5 gallon mangrove tank into the 10 gallon rimless and added more mangrove. Has around 30 lbs of sand I got from a local beach (in order to create a higher platform for frags and smaller mangrove) as well as around 20 mangroves and oval blade macro algae. Has 11 pounds rock, 2 filters, power compact lighting... Live stock includes a clown goby, ghost shrimp and a lot of copepods that hitchhiked in the algae. I may add a mandarin if all goes well as well as a few more species of shrimp.

I've been wanting to add some red mangrove plants to my refugium for my 72g reef tank, but the refugium is about 3 1/2 feet deep. Are there any mangrove plants on the market that are tall enough to reach the surface from this depth? I also considered the possibility of anchoring the base of the plants to some live rock that is about two feet off of the sand bed, this way the plant would only need to reach about 18 inches to eclipse the surface. Is this feasible? To anchor to rock? Thank you.

The live rocks dont seem to have any coraline algae, is this because of the mangroves are depleating nutrients necessary for coraline algae growth?

No, the leaves need to breath just like any other plant. upper 1/3 of plant needs to be out of water, also lighting is to close foliage will burn. I have grown and sold these plants for years. I currently have 15,000 cultivated
