30 anniversary

Originally formed in the fall of 2008, Atomic 5 began rehearsing and quickly discovered a musical chemistry. After realizing the potential of such a natural bond, the group began to explore their collective sound through original compositions. Atomic 5 is comprised of New Yorker Steven Salcedo (tenor sax), Montréal natives Nicolas Godmaire (guitar) and Beavan Flanagan (piano) and, from Toronto, Kathryn Palumbo (bass) and Aaron Landsberg (drums). All are currently finishing their Jazz Performance degrees at McGill University in Montréal. Workshopping regularly with Montréal musicians Frank Lozano and Chet Doxas, Atomic 5 continues to focus their search for a distinctive and identifiable group sound through personal and collective growth. The group recently opened for the renowned international pianist Omar Sosa, and will be performing at the Montréal Jazz Festival this coming summer, as the final stop of an eastern tour. The group hopes to share their journey with all those interested in listening.
