Ane Brun sings Björk's "Jóga" at the Polar Music Prize Ceremony in Stockholm, August 30, 2010. Arranged and conducted by Hans Ek.
The laureates (prize winners) this year were Björk and the Italian composer Ennio Morricone. Further info at www.polarmusicprize.org.
Björk's own original recording of "Jóga" is on "Homogenic" (1997).

Be sure to also check out Ane Brun singing her OWN songs! I recommend her excellent concert at Øyafestivalen (Oslo) in 2007, available on NRK web-tv:

  • The true power of a cover is when it reminds you how much you loved the original version, and at the same time allows you to fall in love with the song all over again as if it were the first time hearing it. Amazing.

  • Wow, did you see Björk's face at the end!? I don't know if she was crying or angry because she didn't see that coming, I'd love to know what was passing through her mind at that time. With Robyn's cover she was like "thanx, but long way to go girl" but what would she have thought with Ane who's at the same league as her? Anyway in Björk's words... Fantabulous!!! :P

  • @TheRealPjMcwhiskers I just felt that power! Amazing!

  • @icanseeuranus nope, you know state of emergency!!

  • are her arms not effected by gravity?

  • this is a good version

  • @corpsegrinder777 Ane is fantastic, but I won't say she's in the same league as Bjork. Not my league with Bjork which she occupies all by herself. Who else can sing about backs of necks and thrill my soul?

  • Shit I prefer Björk (for biased reasons) but this is fucking amazing. Great cover.

  • its so good it makes me happy unlike the version by lights that one sux ass

  • Perfect.

  • always I called the covering of Bjorks songs A BLASPHEMY!

But this cover shut up my mouth!!!! Is literally breathtaking.

She managed it with amazing power, dignity and deep art. Bravo
