NTV brought you the success story of a community in Narok that has managed to conserve the Loita Forest through traditional systems. However, besides culture, what keeps the Maasai in Loita on the tight and narrow of environmental conservation? One man answers that question, the Oloiboni; an enigmatic figure in whose hands the key decisions of the community lie.

  • thanks masai elders, don't take pull shit from nobody; do your thing our government don't work.

  • Ok.... forget the superstion and the rhetoric about traditions.... one thing i agree though! these elders are powerful and the government should involve them in protecting these forests. Through incentives these masaais can protect these water catchment areas. Thanks you maasais and as always thanks Rita for a fine job done!
