This is a sabar class I took in Dakar Senegal 2007, as part of a drum and dance educational trip. It was hosted by my teacher's Ibrahima Camara and Sajou Rochae. We spent time in Dakar and Casamance. My personal drummer, Daryl Kwasi Burgee and one of my student, Kyle Carney of UArts were also on the trip. Kwasi ad I were funded by the Independence Foundation for the Arts. I was awarded a 2006 Fellowship in the Arts!! We truly had one of the best experiences of our lives, hands down.
