Absinthe: A Night with The Green Fairy (vBlog 2009)

Our documentation of the night we drank Absinthe while listening to the new Depeche Mode album Sounds of the Universe (2009) and Flight of the Conchords. Hours of video condensed into 6 min.

We consumed the Absinthe in two ways:

"The Bohemian Method" -- a sugar cube is placed on a slotted spoon over a glass containing one shot of absinthe. The sugar cube is pre-soaked absinthe and set on fire. The flaming sugar cube is then dropped into the glass igniting the absinthe. A shot glass full of water is added to douse the flames. Or the "Cooking the Absinthe/Flaming Green Fairy" method allow the fire to burn itself out.

"The Bavarian Method" - The sugar cube is pre-soaked in absinthe and set on fire. The cube must be melted down until the sugar is in a liquid form. The liquid sugar is then poured into the absinthe shot, slightly stirred, and then the shot is taken.

I'm not even of legal drinking age, but you improperly prepared the drink!

You're not supposed to drink it straight from the bottle! You have to get Absinthe spoons,pour only a ounce of the absinthe into glass, put the the sugar on the spoon, pour cold water over the sugar!! Than stir! The water distills it!!

and you don't drink the whole bottle,due to high alcahol content you could get alcahol poisoning drinking more 1 or 3 a night.

@Megawatkins We didn't drink it improperly, we just didn't drink it the traditional way... aka The French Method -- which is the method you're explaining. We drank it using these other methods (google them): The Bohemian Method, Cooking the Absinthe/Flaming Green Fairy and The Bavarian Method. We also were mixing it with coke and different things as well.

My friend who I started out drinking with did drink way too much and actually got very ill the next day. The other two of us were fine.
