Fire Emblem: How to deal with Thieves

I was playing FE6 and a named theif showed up looking to raid the treasure. I figured I could recruit her so I didn't kill her, but I didn't want her stealing stuff either. So, here's what I did...

Yeah, stealing the lockpick is the best way to deal with a thief - if you can get your own thief to them in time, which isn't always easy. If they don't have any lockpicks, and they can't steal anything from anyone (keep in mind, the thief doing the stealing must be FASTER than the target, so if you can steal it in the first place, they can't steal it back), they'll either try to leave the map, or attack someone.

you can't steal from someone faster than you, hence Cath can't steal your lockpicks back.
