10 Gallon fresh water aquarium housing 4 female Betta. Substrate is 2/3rds Eco-Complete, 1/3rd natural marine sand. The temporary hardscape is broken terracotta pots. The tank is filtered with a Marineland Penguin 100 bio-wheel hang on back (HOB) power filter that outputs into a DIY diverter to lessen currents within the tank. It is lit with a simple clamp on utility light with a 15Watt 6500K CFL. The only plant in the tank at this time is Java Moss. The tank has only been up and running since 6-1-09 and is currently being treated for ICH.

  • how did you get break the pots to have clean edge?

  • @XeeChannel I used a regular blade screwdriver to score the pots where I, more or less, wanted the breaks to occur. I then tapped on the scored lines with the handle of the screwdriver to break the pots. Use sandpaper to make the edges safe for delicate fins. You can also use a rotary tool (Demel) to cut exact openings and such. This is much more cleanly accomplished if you soak the pots in water first to cut down on dust.

  • Lovely tank! How's everything doing now?

    That song sounds familiar, lol...

  • Check my recent videos, I've gotten a new camera and the tank has evolved substantially!

The song is one of YouTube's available songs for audio replacement.

  • i love the setup!

    mine is so plain!

    :(

  • Thanks for the compliment. :) It looks a lot different now! I've added a ton of plants including a lilly that's taking up about a 1/5th of the tank! There's now 4 femme betta, a small crown tail male betta, 2 cory catfish (4 more soon,) 1 all black male swordtail, and about 10 ghost shrimp (I don't know how many are left as there were 12 and then the bettas ate a couple, heh.) I'm sure you can get your tank to look like you want! Just take your time, make a plan and go from there. GL!

  • HI! May I ask how you fit the Marineland Penguin 100 filter into your 10g tank?? With all the pieces connected, the 'cane' of the filter extends 2 inches below the bottom of my 10G tank, lol.......... In your videos, it looks like your filters are completely upright!!!!!!!! Did you modify/remove a section? I tried removing part 7 from it, but parts 6 and 8 won't connect........ I don't know what to do, lol! Please help me XD

  • Thats weird o-o
