Question Raised In Trooper, Paramedic Dispute

OHP says before the home video was recording, the paramedic assaulted the state trooper.

Witness Diana Walkup says the paramedic never touched anyone until the patrolman grabbed his arm.

UNDATED - There are more details about a confrontation earlier this week between an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper and a paramedic in Okfuskee County. The incident was caught on tape as the trooper accuses the ambulance driver of not pulling over when the patrol car was trying pass him. What does the law say about who has the right of way?

It was Sunday along Highway 62 in Paden. Kenyada Davis is behind the cell phone camera. His mother was being transported by Muscogee Creek Nation EMS to a hospital in Prague.

In a statement obtained by The News On 6, paramedic Maurice White said the patrol car came within three feet of the ambulance with its lights on, eventually passing while telling the driver over the emergency radio: "You should consider checking you rearview mirrors."

I don't care about his PTSD. He was probably a prick over there too. He signed on the dotted line to fight for Bush and big money. The fact that he even uses that for an excuse just means he should be punished even much harder. I have a few veterans of the current wars in my fmily and they do have PTSD. They aren't out on the loose trying to hurt or kill innocent people though and they righteously hate authority figures after what authority put them through.

Neither am I pissed at every cop that I see though this story pisses me the hell off! That cop was a PRICK! Makes people loose respect for your having served the country. I know the Paramedic from back when I was a Fire Fighter and First Responder. He worked for MESTA which was the emergancy service used in our areah. I was pretty surprised when I saw this. He was a good guy during the time I knew him. This entire thing makes us all look bad for the most part. I'm not sure what OHP was thinking in this case. We're all apart of the same team. But, make no mistake - Going around and bashing all Cops in general for this makes you no better.

I was a Cop also and this cop took things way to far. He should have let the driver and medic get the patient to the Hospital then deal with what ever was the issue. The trooper was also in the wrong for running up on another emergency vehicle like he did. This officer is also letting the authority of his office get the better of him. The I am a COP so you do as I say deal. All I am saying is as a cop when I deal with FireFighters EMS or other agencies I treat them with respect.
