The name "Modeselektor" is taken from a function on the Roland RE-201 Space Echo.

The original sample is from Sasha Perera (Jahcoozi - Black Barbie). It was released on EP in 2005 but Modeselektor remixed it in 2004, what's the big deal? You CAN remix a song even if it isn't released to the public, ever heard of dubplates for example?

You can remix it. But remember that Jahcoozi is on the same record label as Modeselektor so it's not liked the label couldn't have OK'd the remix before it was released.
