Chapter 3.
Absence makes the heart grow founder

I don't know if you've ever heard the saying: Absence makes the heart grow founder...

That's how it started for us. Two years after I had the dream, and had forgotten all about it, I found myself in the same class as Kevin. We reunited as friends and became closer and closer. But never more than just friends. Until the trip.

In March 2009, I left for two weeks in Spain with some classmates. He stayed behind. When we were over there and talking about who we missed the most, to my surprise, the first name that popped in my head was his. Not my parents, best friends, or anything like that. HIM. Just not being able to see, push, shove or tease him was overwhelming. We spent one week at this youth institution and they had internet connection. So, every night when we would come back from some long and tiring excursion or activity, I would stay up until three in the morning to IM with him. For Kevin, it wasn't that bad since it was supper time back in the USA. For me, it was pulling all-nighters, many times in a row. but it was worth it. He was worth it.

You know, the best feeling in the world is knowing that someone misses you too. That someone actually cares if you are ok or not. And when that someone is also YOUR someone. Well, there's no perfect way of putting it. So let me just say: it absolutely rocks.

As he promised, I was ok. I could trust him. No matter, what from then and on I knew he would always be there. To lean and to fall back onto when everything seemed to be going wrong. The one person that could put a smile on my face even when the only thing I felt like doing was bawling. He could actually be the one for me.

Correction: He was the one for me.
