@schlusnus Sorry, but I disagree. She had a nice voice but I wouldn't say a great one and wouldn't have made it musically in the latter part of the 20th century to now.

that's what I ment, emotions through the singing of the music as written, no histrionics and cheap tricks. Many bad singers became famous trough them.

but joseph there is such sadness in her voice,destinn was so great at vocal expression and i think it is quite noticeable here.sobs are a cheap add in,if the composer wanted sobs he would have put them in.
