Just me jamming along with one of my favorite bands. The audio is from the Gorge 2002 5-disc set and the video is from Listener Supported. If you're a fan, check em both out. If you're wondering why the video sync isn't perfect, keep in mind that the performances were 3 years apart. The parts I'm playing, along with the late great Leroi Moore, are mainly based off of what Jeff Coffin has played when the Flecktones have jammed with DMB. I also used one of Rawshawn Ross's ideas where he moves to the 9th when Roi moves to the 7th on the final chorus licks. This harmony part was briefly used during the Crash sessions. In addition, if you listen very carefully to the album version, you can hear Leroi doubling the tenor licks with a Baritone or Bass saxophone. It's subtle, but it's there.

  • Dude how do you know the notes?

  • @gators409 You have to listen to albums over and over again, and pick out the notes one by one. It becomes easier after practice. Then you figure out chords and harmonic relationships, and improvise a solo using this knowledge. You can also throw in some of the musical vocabulary used by Leroi, Jeff, or Rashawn. All in all though, I'm still learning new things.

  • That was genius. Is there anyway you can send me the music? Obviously not your solo lol, but I was asked to play the sax for this song for a school thing and cannont find music anywhere.

  • You can use practically any version of #41. They like to vamp on the outro chords for a while. Just turn the audio into a useable Windows audio file, and use Windows Movie Maker to loop the section that you need, or to cut out what you do not need.

  • Lindo!!!!

  • Gracias!

  • Great Job man. Dave's voice on this song is jacked up.. Months of tour without a day's rest would do that. Awesome man.

  • This is the song that made me want to play saxophone. And LeRoi was my inspiration when it came to playing sax. I always wanted to play a cover of it, but it never did work out. I am glad you did this though.

  • That's awesome! Keep playing!

  • your solo is great, really good feel there. your sax sounds awesome too!
