A recent survey on the challenges that lie ahead for China indicates that the problem of corruption ranks high in peoples minds.

In its final edition for 2009, the state-run Peoples Tribune Magazine published a survey titled The Top 10 Challenges for the Next Decade.

The online survey asked more than 8,000 participants to select what they thought would be the most severe challenge for China over the next 10 years.

Of those surveyed, 82.3% selected this statement: The extent of corruption in China has already surpassed what [Chinese people] can psychologically endure.

Corruption among high-ranking communist officials is a growing problem in China. According to the state-run media Xinhua, 15 provincial-level officials lost their jobs in 2009 after being investigated for corruption—that's the highest number on record. These officials all held key positions in a range of agencies.

But its not just the high ranks of these corrupt officials that are being noticed. Its also the amount of money involved. China's National Audit Office uncovered the equivalent of more than $34 billion U.S. dollars in illegal funds last year.

Besides corruption, other top-10 challenges selected by the survey group include the widening wealth gap, and conflicts between local officials and the public leading to riots, protests or strikes—what Chinese officials call "mass incidents."

NTDTV's official YouTube Channel got taken down for some weird reason, so I thought it would be a good time to upload some of their noteworthy videos again and it's also to remind you guys that you can actually still find ALL their programming on their website: http://english.ntdtv.com - So just cause Google is probably bowing to China again doesn't mean they are gone - go visit their website, they don't only have news on human rights in China, but have 24 hour programming with live streaming.
