Pope: God Does Not Act Against Our Freedom

Pope Benedict held his weekly general audience on Wednesday in the papal summer residence in Castel Gandolfo. 4000 pilgrims made their way to the town to see him.

His catechesis was on the Assumption of Mary, which is celebrated on Saturday.

The Pope spoke about the link between the incarnation and the priesthood, and said Mary was the Mother of Priests.

The Holy Father recalled that on the cross, Jesus entrusted Mary to his disciple, and through him to all believers, especially his closest disciples and priests.

Pope Benedict called on all priests to make a special place for the Blessed Virgin in their lives, and seek her assistance daily as they bear witness to the Gospel of Jesus.
