LYRICS:

Some people call me little,
Some people call me small
But given the chance,
I'll rise up and stand above them all.

Some people put me down,
Some people kick me around,
But believe me when I tell you
I'll be the one to rule this town.

And they all say "No"
And they say "You can't go"
But I won't let them
Decide who I should be.

Colourful rainbows catch my eye
When I see you fly across the sky
You're like a drug that calms the mind,
You're like a drug that calms the mind
I'll flap my wings and get off of the floor
I'll fly higher than ever before
Wind in my hair as I start to soar,
Wind in my hair as I start to soar...

Some people call me a chicken,
Some people say that I can't,
But what these people
Fail to understand

Is that I'll go out with my friends
Hand in hand, our friendship will never end
Hold on, this could get nostalgic
As we look back and see that friendship is magic

Look here, we're three little ponies
Ready to sing for this crowd
Listen up 'cause here's our stories
We're gonna sing it very loud!

I know, I know if you give me the chance,
I know, I know if you give me the chance

I know, I know if you give me the chance,
I know, I know if you give me the chance

I'll be the one who stands up tall
The one who rises above them all
The one who gets to be...

Somebody.

  • Unpopular critic hat on:

    1) The piece is nice, though I can't help but feel that the beginning is a little long. Could maybe do with a "radio edit" of about 4 minutes?

    2) Parts like 1:28 to 1:49 sound a bit messy vocally, especially towards the end. Also the vocals getting drowned out by the music doesn't help.

    3) I feel that "Some people call me a chicken" would fit better as "call me chicken". I get the reference though.

Please don't hate me; just respond and get a ton of thumbs up, lol.

  • @EuroMIX2 Hey, constructive criticism is always welcomed! You didn't flame, you brought up legitimate points. If someone gets upset about that, that's THEIR problem not yours.

Anyways, my response would be this: 1) Personally, (and it's just my opinion!) I'm a fan of long epic songs, like ones you'll find in classic rock--but AcousticBrony wrote this one so I can't respond to that so much. 2) Same issue--it was sung by Jimmy in AB, so I can't respond. 3) Not sure what you mean?

  • Amazing song. I love it. It also happens to sound exactly like Yellow Card o.o

  • This song reminds me a bit of Harry Potter. Great song.

  • Awesome! :D

  • @galacticrenegade

I prefer to offer them critique since I feel it would benefit them more if they want to improve as artists. I feel that responses beyond this point would be futile as it is obvious that your comments are directed more towards them at this point than me. I may not be showering them with praise, but what I say comes from a place of caring and that's all that really matters.

  • @EuroMIX2 ... i see us going down the path of semantics here, I'm going leave it as this is not the place for it.

All i wanted to say was MandoPony and AcousticBrony did an awesome job as is and i would like to have their children.

The problem is we are discussing musical preference, which is pure opinion, on something theoretical, also I don't see it as "copping shit" since most people have been fairly respectful. People simply disagreeing is the least of my worries, in fact I'd be surprised if people didn't. My critique comes from a place of love... and tolerance. >_>

  • @EuroMIX2 I know, all i'm saying is that i respectfully disagree. and those 42 people that agree with you are the reason you're copping so much shit XD

  • @galacticrenegade

I was comparing how the video version cuts down the album version without ruining the song; it's a nice compromise between the album and radio edit. As I said, I can't think of the best way to word it without sounding offensive. I'm expressing personal opinion while trying to be constructive and I appreciate that at least 42 people seem to understand that. I can't help but feel that sometimes songs need an edit to capture the best of the piece.

  • @EuroMIX2 ... "I'd do anything for love" is not a fair comparison, its by far longer and the music progresses at a far too slower rate, and when The Loaf gets into it he says the same thing ALOT. One minute intro is about where you need it to be and its not too slow at progressing. Saying that its personal preference, and i wouldn't be against a radio edit, but radio edit or another colab, if mando gave us the option, I'd say colab

This thing to me is like Blink 182's best song, but betterer.

  • @AMAZINGDOG402

It's really hard to place my issue without sounding offensive; it's more a personal preference. I can't comment on Dream Theater specifically because I haven't heard one of their songs in ages. Think I Would Do Anything For Love album (~12 minutes) vs video (~8 minutes); I prefer the latter because there are less bike sounds at the beginning. I have the same issue with dance remixes. Also, I was asking for a radio edit alongside the original, not as a replacement.
