A quick guide on how to change the oil on the Smart CDI ForFour, a simple job but I have provided this as the Oil filter is in an awkward place and is useful to know where it is if this is the first time you have changed oil on this particular model.
Uses about 5-6 litres of Fully Synthetic as recommeded by Smart. Drain oil out, remove filter, put new one on with a rim of oil on rubber, then screw back on and refill.
Job done :)
just to note if you cant get the filter off by hand, i found it near impossible to get any leverage using a screw drive through it. Easiest way was to buy a "Draper" oil filter removal tool. Only costs about £5 and is just a fabric strap which goes around the filter and then a socket is used to tighten the strap, once tight enough it will spin the filter off, good piece of kit!
