"Cave Paint Or Die" by Adam Bruneau
Video 2010, Music 2007
Footage filmed in Georgia, North Carolina, Vermont, and Egypt.
PART ONE: This isn't a glow-fi song, it's pretty harsh and is more like Cave Rock, something the Kiwis were developing at the time of recording. The industrial tribal-satori opening includes bottles of painkillers and jingling keyrings. Sacred Egyptian wall art WITH 6000 YEAR OLD ORIGINAL PAINT expand their lessons to fill the mind and rent bootleg NES versions of 2001: A Space Odyssey.
PART TWO: Back to earth, the ground, the jungle. Tree leaves, Amazon flowers, a wild beast. It's a Florida neon jungle (thanks to Dan Wakefield!) shifting under my levitating cat God.
PART THREE: God, evaporating into Prakriti like all finite things do, finds three reincarnated Sufi spirits throw hoops in Chapel Hill, and the watch maker blinks in and out with the winding sitar. I've long loved the sound of an unplugged electric guitar, and here it's washing over and over, breathing in and out the breath of time.
