I tried it in 2.49a (latest), and that bug appeared, plus the texture of carpet completely dispappeared, despite the fact, that I packed all textures to blend. file (by the way, the texture is on the disc on the same place, it hasn't a reason to be disappearing!)

What version of blender are you using? check the lastest version of blender (2.49a) several bugs are fixed (especially in game engine)
