Is The "Barack The Magic Negro" Song Over The Top?

Larry Elder makes very good arguments most of the time and is very incisive, but I can't understand why he is so defensive of the party that has proven toxic to minorities, and filled with a higher-than-random percentage of racists.

There really wasn't anything all that racist about the song other then the word "negro" and I have heard more black people use that term than anyone else. People need to get over this race card the gov. is trying to pull and realize that he just sucks as a president. Of course it's an offensive clip, and if it's all about Al Sharpton as Elder claims then why do we see only images of Obama? But Obama is bigger than all that, he's right to shrug it off.

i can see where the song would get a little racist but you have to listen to the lyrics to really catch it, and you can compare negro to white boy or Caucasian
