Top 5 Winners:

1st place - Charcoal Briquettes - An Alternative Fuel from the Seed Cover of Oil-Yielding Plants invented by Nel Christopher Ponsaran from Jose Abad Santos High School of Manila, Philippine. In the category of initiation and development, this invention scored the highest.

2nd place - Auxiliary Devices for Plant-Shaping invented by Yu-Shu Chen from Taiwans Affiliated Industrial Vocational High School of National Chang-Hua Normal University of Taiwan.

3rd place - Bathtub Alarm invented by Weng-Ji Chen from Yi-Lan, Taiwans Fuh-Sing Junior High School. Weng-Ji is only an eighth grader whose oral presentation has won the highest point of 99. The application value of his inventions also tied for the highest among all competitors.

4th place - Headset Cap/MP3 Pen invented by Romely Escobido from Manila Science High School of the Philippines.

5th place - COSTT: Conductivity, Salinity, Turbidity and Temperature Monitoring Module to Asses Key Physicochemical Factor in Discrete Sampling Stations of Ilog Pasig, Philippines invented by James Patrick Balagtas from Ramon Magsaysay High School of Manila, Philippines.

Honorable Mention with Merit:

In addition to the above top five winners, five members for the panel of judges also picked their favorite inventions to give awards of Honorable Mention with Merit, recognizing the inventions unique contribution.

Lowndes County Board of Education Chairman Philip Poole awarded the Honorable Mention with Merit to The Magic Warm Keeper: Electricity-Saving Thermos Refrigerator invented by I-Chien Isabel Lai of Taipei Mandarin Experimental Primary School and Hsing-Yu Hugo Shih of Nan-Men Middle School of Taipei, Taiwan.

Dean Alfred Gills of Valdosta Technical College awarded his Honorable Mention with Merit to Cheng-Yi Tsai of Ming-Sheng Junior High of Taiwan for his Safe Cane for the Blind invention. Among all 25 inventions, Tsai has scored highest in the category of innovative value.

Bonia Hodge, representative from the Georgia Power Foundation, awarded her Honorable Mention with Merit to Chang-Sheng Liu & Yu-Chih Chen of Da-Yeh Junior High School and Chun-Che, Tang of the National Chia-Yi Industrial High School of Taiwan for their Horizontal Walking Stick.

Mr. John Newton, instructor of engineering and technology at Lowndes High School, awarded his Honorable Mention with Merit to Erna Mae G. Antonio of Ramon Magsaysay High School of Manila, the Philippines for the Air-Filtering Module to Control Air-Borne Particles of Smoke-Emitting Grillers.

Dr. Charles Backes of Valdosta State University awarded his Honorable Mention with Merit to Annalie Pritos and Aegean Ville Pascua for their Characterization of Oil-Yields of Indigenous Filipino Plant Species as Biodiesel Fuels. The visual quality of their display scored the highest among all competitors.

The following inventions were awarded an Honorable Mention: the Sock Assist Stick invented by Wesley Newton of Lowndes High School of the U.S.A., the Multi-Function Mosquito Catcher invented by Ming-Yi Hong of National Kangshan Agricultural and Industrial vocational Senior High School of Taiwan; the Fallen Leaf and Ping-Pong Ball Collector & Magic Cradle invented by Chun-You Chen of Bei-Xing Middle School and Chu-Che Tang of Taiwan; the Inertia Charger invented by Nai-Hsien Wang of Chia-Yi Technology High School of Taiwan; the Anti-Slip-Off Gearbox and the Improved Nail Cutter invented by Chang-Sheng Liu of Taiwan; Characterization and feasibility of LPG Sensing Device with Discrete Output Indicators for Household and Taxi and LPG Leaks invented by Melvin Acio of Ramon Magsaysay High School of Manila, Philippines; Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) Reinforced Cement: An Alternative to Plastic Recycling invented by Juelle Jade Espiritu of Ramon Magsaysay High School of Manila, Philippines & Room Temperature Based Fan Powered through z-log programming invented by Natasha Denise Montevirgen and Larisa Jane Salaysay of Manila Science High School.
