  • For so many years but nobody mentioned it.

We are looking at the wrong engine!!!!!

    Why?

I just seen the crash scene from the movie.

The right engine turns counterclock wise.

The left one turn clockwise. As can be seen on the crash scene. The men are building the Phoenix with the left engine and put the right wing on the engine. But is you are looking to this scene the movement is counterclockwise.

It must be the right engine, but this engine is destroyed on the crash. Look at the movie.

  • Just got done watching the post on youtube of this scene in the remake. It has ZERO the effect of this, the original. Dennis Quaid and the other actors are all buff and great looking as if they have just stepped-out of their air-conditioned dressing trailers, instead of having spent days in the desert short of water. The re-make had probably three times the money it took to make the original, and magnitudes greater fx technology, but doesn't deliver 10% of the impact the original "Flight" does.

  • Oh I love this film. My favorite scene is Hardy Kruger having to defend his being a model airplane designer and NOT a toy airplane designer

  • without doubt one of my favorite films

  • I put the snow effect on...hilarious. Snow in the desert.

  • @copferthat

Why did they remake the original? Simple. Money.

The studio executives know kids today have never heard of the original and even if they did they wouldn't dream of seeing an "old movie". So they reason:"Hey why not remake old hit movies and update them for those morons that we earn the most money on today?"

Unfortunately for them the remake flopped. So fortunately nobody will remember it as little as the 1998 Psycho remake in 10 years or so.

  • The "Tallmantz Phoenix P-1" was made up of: North American T-6 Texan engine, cowling, propeller, undercarriage wheels and cockpit controls Beechcraft C-45 Expeditor wings, North American L-17 Navion tail wheel Tallmantz-designed and constructed fuselage, wing roots and skids

  • is it pratt and whitney R-2800???

  • Who cares of the minute details.

  • @pcuser80 yes its one of several mistakes. there is also something like they rebuilt the carburettor which was impossible outside a workshop facility with specialist equipment
