Chaplin could easly have said Capitalism is the wage slavery of immense humanity, a market mechanism of artificial scarcity no matter what scienstific/technological innovations for perpetuating povertyand exploitation in this nourishing Earth, so a minority can get richer and more powerful by day The rulers are in control because we have accepted their false limits and their ideological distortions. We should reclaim our lives/Earth for a world cooperation for our common needs/well being

Considering this was before the US entered WWII, I wonder how much scrutiny Mr. Chaplin had to put up with when he made this movie, just as the Three Stooges made "You Nazi Spy" and "I'll Never Heil Again"? This wonderful speech sure shows how much bravery he had when he made this film. :)

Capitalism from its mercantile plundering and enslavement of African natives to its Millitaristic rise of European Powers to World wars and Financial serfdom of the world has been a DISASTEROUS imposition .

This is the must beautiful speech that any body ever made and a find my self whith cloudy ayes every time I hear it because it specks of the. hope of the simple man for peace and brotherhood, A speech of love made for all of us. And as a man born in communist country in a dictatorship, I completely agree whit the painful necessity to fight, and to fight for what is good, to fight agaist slavery, represion, dictators, hunger and hate, for DEMOCRACY and HOPE, and for all what is good in humanity!
